Weekly Meal Plan 20160827

We’ll have more visitors this week, but adults only, as far as I know, so I didn’t plan any kid-friendly meals. The Cottage Roll and Salmon were bumped from last week’s plan, so I’ve put them on for this week. If we skip them again, I might give up!

We’re headed into the long Labour Day weekend, so who knows what will happen to our plans then. Also, I’m supposed to try to eat more calcium-rich foods, so I’ll be looking for recipes that feature them, in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I’m getting more calcium at lunch, as in the cottage cheese, spinach salad, and buttermilk feast you can see in the picture below.

The Weekly Plan

Here is our plan for the week starting Sunday, Aug 28, 2016. There are links for some recipes, and others are made “freestyle”.

Sunday Cottage Roll With Vegetables

Monday — Ribeye steak

Tuesday Roast Chicken and Potatoes

Wednesday Salmon Roasted in Butter

Thursday — Peameal Bacon

Friday Falafel Patties with Tomato Salad (picture below)

Saturday Pasta Carbonara

How It Actually Went

Here’s what we actually had this week. The Cottage Roll was delicious, and good for lunch the next day too. Our visitor didn’t stay for dinner on Monday, so we had beans and weiners instead of steak. Our roast chicken was from Swill Chalet, and the “potatoes” were French fries, but close enough!

On Thursday, Keith made his favourite shrimp dish, so that was a nice upgrade from the Peameal Bacon we had planned.

I made the Falafel Patties on Friday, but not the tomato salad. They tasted okay, but were pretty mushy and ugly (picture below). I’ll try them again, but with a different recipe.
