Weekly Meal Plan 20161217

It will be a busy week, as we make the final preparations for Christmas, so there’s nothing fancy on this week’s menu. With all the snow and cold weather, we’ll need some hot and hearty meals, to that’s what I picked for this week. Our energy might fade towards the end of the week, so we’ll see how it goes!

And for Christmas Eve on Saturday, we’ll have the traditional night of snacking, instead of a sit-down dinner. We sometimes get a tortière for that night, so there’s at least one hot item for those who want it. Merry Christmas!

I’m taking a week off from meal plans – we’ll just play it by ear between Christmas and New Year’s. See you back here after that!

The Weekly Plan

Here is our plan for the week starting Sunday, Dec 18, 2016. There are links for some recipes, and others are made “freestyle”.

Sunday Quick & Creamy Chicken Stew

Monday Pasta Carbonara

Tuesday Pork Tenderloin in Lemon Sauce

Wednesday — Shepherd’s Pie

Thursday — Peameal Bacon

Friday — Ravioli Puttanesca

Saturday — Cheese & Crackers

How It Actually Went

Here’s what we actually had this week. We had lots of chicken stew, so we enjoyed the leftovers on Monday. The Pasta Carbonara got bumped to Tuesday, and the pork tenderloin fell off of the menu. On Friday, we had visitors, and they love fish and chips, so we’ll have the Ravioli Puttanesca some other time.

And I need to find one of our favourite Shepherd’s Pie recipes, and post it on the blog, so we can refer to that the next time we’re having it. Keith had a hard time finding a recipe to use this week, and wasn’t thrilled with the results.
