Weekly Meal Plan 20170204

We don’t have any big plans for this week, so I’ve put 3 new recipes in the schedule – Roasted Chicken and Crispy Sprouts, Slow Cooker Pork Chops with Potatoes and Upside Down Shepherd’s Pie. We’ll see how that goes, or maybe we’ll be tired out after making the first one!

Tomorrow is Super Bowl day, so Keith will make a pot of chili – our traditional football championship game dinner. Our recipe is based on the Chili for a Crowd recipe in the Silver Palate cookbook. Their version serves 30-40 people, so we have to cut it down quite a bit!

The Weekly Plan

Here is our plan for the week starting Sunday, Feb 05, 2017. There are links for some recipes, and others are made “freestyle”.

Sunday Chili con carne

Monday — Tortellini

Tuesday Roasted Chicken and Crispy Sprouts

Wednesday Slow Cooker Pork Chops with Potatoes

Thursday Upside Down Shepherd’s Pie (picture below)

Friday — Peameal Bacon

Saturday — Ribeye steak

How It Actually Went

Here’s what we actually had this week. The only change was on Monday, when we had leftover chili, instead of Tortellini. The new dishes, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, were very tasty, and we’ll definitely have all 3 again.

For the Upside Down Shepherd’s Pie, we used frozen peas and carrots and corn, instead of taking the time to chop up fresh vegetables. I’d do that the next time too, unless I’m feeling really ambitious! It was bright and colourful, and I threw in some Worcestershire sauce for a little zip. You can see the picture below.
