Weekly Meal Plan 20170722

Our granddaughter will be visiting next week, while she goes to a nearby Dance Camp. So, instead of fancy new recipes, we’ll have some of her favourite foods. Plus, she keeps us busy, so we’re usually too tired to cook anything fancy!

There’s no recipe for the Turkey Schnitzel, but you can use this Veal Schnitzel recipe, and substitute thin turkey cutlets for the veal. We find that the turkey works better – it stays tender and moist, while the veal gets a bit chewy sometimes. And the turkey is cheaper!

The Weekly Plan

Here is our plan for the week starting Sunday, Jul 23, 2017. There are links for some recipes, and others are made “freestyle”.

Sunday Ribs, Barbecued Back

Monday — Quesadillas

Tuesday — Tortellini

Wednesday — Peameal Bacon

Thursday — Turkey Schnitzel

Friday — Fish & chips

Saturday — Beef Tenderloin

How It Actually Went

Here’s what we actually had this week – we mostly stuck to the plan from Sunday to Thursday, but Keith made spaghetti on Tuesday, instead of Tortellini. It smelled delicious in the slow cooker all afternoon, so we were starving by the time supper was ready!

On Friday, we didn’t have any company for supper, so we had steak instead of the fish and chips and were on the plan. Keith had a Rib-eye, and he grilled a tenderloin for me. Then, apparently he’s in a beefy mood, because he decided to make a beef stew for our supper tonight. I’m looking forward to that! He’ll get that ready at lunch time, and it will be in the slow cooker all afternoon. I might have to work in the back yard, to avoid the hunger-inducing aromas!
